    Shades of Light’s Designer Trade Program is focused on serving Residential Interior Designers, Home Builders, Contractors and Architects working on Residential Projects.

    Who Can Qualify

    If you are interested in setting up a trade account, please see Account Set-Up below. If you are specifying, designing and purchasing decorative lighting for a hospitality or commercial project such as a hotel, resort, restaurant, apartment complex, etc please reach out to our Hospitality Department for further assistance.

    Participation in our Designer Trade Program requires proof of a design-based business as indicated below. Shades of Light does not permit items sold through this program to be resold to the general public through retail stores, catalogs, the Internet, or any other means.

    Account Set UP

    To request a trade account please follow the steps below. If you have any questions regarding this program, you may also contact our Customer Care team at (800) 262-6612, press 3, or email CustomerCare@ShadesofLight.com and Reference “Trade Program” in your subject line.

    1. Visit our Account Page and create your account with an email and password.

    2. Once you are logged in to your account, click the “Request Trade Account” button at the bottom left and complete the form. Be sure to specify your primary focus as “Residential Design”

    3. After you have submitted your request you will receive a confirmation e-mail from our Customer Care team. In order to complete your account set-up, please reply to the e-mail with the following information attached:

      1. Copy of a business license or business card

      2. Sales tax documents for all states where you hold a sales tax exemption (for tax exempt customers)

      3. Name, address and e-mail of any other employees that are authorized to use your trade account.

    4. You will also receive a second e-mail from Avalara CertExpress, our 3rd party sales tax exemption service provider. Please follow the link in the Avalara CertExpress e-mail to either manually fill out your company’s details for your sales tax exemption or click on the link to import your copy of your sales tax exemption form. This process will need to be completed for every state in which you hold a sales tax exemption. Please note that this step only applies to trade professionals that hold a current sales tax exemption form.

    Once your account has been processed you will receive a confirmation email.
